Six Sentence Sunday: Do This For Me

From Deathhawk's Betrayal:
‘I won’t stay in the house of a man who could’ve ended slavery and didn’t.’
Astarl didn’t miss the glint in Jeharv’s black eyes, but she was beyond caring. It was an outrageous ultimatum to make of the master of assassins and she didn’t expect to succeed. No one stopped her loading a horse and riding out the gate.
Two days later, in a flyspeck village, the royal messengers caught up and pinned the proclamation in the town square.
Slavery had been outlawed.

Thank you

Yes she does, and this is important to demonstrating her motivation throughout the book, and his character! She's trying to save him, so he can't be unlikeable, otheriwse why would we care? It's always nice to know someone wants to read the whole thing, thank you :-)

Astarl seems to have some sway with this man... hopefully his proclamation won't prove to be too little too late.

He did rescue her from childhood slavery, so their relationship runs pretty deep. As for the rest... no comment.

Yay for outlawing slavery! Wonderful snippet!

Thanks! Slavery is an intensely personal issue for Astarl.

Man, this character is bold. Love it!

It's a particular sore point for her, goes right to the core of who she is. She'd never back down on this one.
