From Deathhawk's Betrayal:

‘I won’t stay in the house of a man who could’ve ended slavery and didn’t.’

Astarl didn’t miss the glint in Jeharv’s black eyes, but she was beyond caring. It was an outrageous ultimatum to make of the master of assassins and she didn’t expect to succeed. No one stopped her loading a horse and riding out the gate.

Two days later, in a flyspeck village, the royal messengers caught up and pinned the proclamation in the town square.

Slavery had been outlawed.

Six Sentence Sunday: Jeharv

These six sentences appear in the opening scene of Deathhawk’s Betrayal. The conversation relates to Jeharv, the master of the assassin Order of Nizari.

The magician gulped air. ‘Why is his life worth more than those of the people he has killed, more than the lives of the people he will kill if he lives?’

Astarl let him drop to the stone floor. Why? The magician made it sound so simple. But Jeharv had saved her when no one else would and it wasn’t simple at all.
